      1. Initiative: Participate in scholarship programs to assist students interested in pursuing a career in broadcasting or other interests.

        Sonora High School, Cassina High School, and Summerville High School Scholarship Programs: Clarke Broadcasting provides scholarships each May to Sonora High School, Cassina High School and Summerville High School students who would like to pursue a career in broadcasting or associated areas. Each scholarship recipient receives $2000.00, and the scholarships are awarded to one student at each school. For each school, the Clarke Broadcasting General Manager reviews the applications and selects the scholarship recipient. Clarke Broadcasting Program Directors attend and present the awards in person at each school’s year-end ceremony. Scholarship recipients must continue to show proof of enrollment and progress toward their degrees to remain eligible for the scholarship year-to-year.

      2. Initiative: Participation in events or programs sponsored by educational institutions relating to careers in broadcasting.

        March 2011 – Sonora High School Career Day: The KZSQ-FM Program Director and Operations Manager participated in a March 2011 “Career Day” at Sonora High School. He talked with all students who had aspirations to enter journalism or associated course studies.

        Spring 2011 – Mentor for Sonora High School Senior Project: The KZSQ-FM Program Director and Operations Manager mentored a Sonora High School student that he met at the March 2011 Sonora High School Career Day. The mentorship provided an opportunity for the student to experience the real side of broadcasting and served as the student’s senior project.
