September 25 Declared “Dolly Parton Day” In Multiple Cities And States
September 25th is Dolly Parton Day, and California is one of the States officially designating this day to Dolly.
Co-author state Sen. Shannon Grove praised Parton’s literacy legacy, saying, “Dolly Parton sparkled on every stage she ever stood on, but her brightest sparkle was the literacy legacy she built through the Imagination Library.” San Francisco will host a free “Dolly Day” celebration featuring music and remembrance.
Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell also declared September 25 Dolly Parton Day, with citywide events concluding with fireworks.
Portland, Oregon, joined in, with city council president Jamie Dunphy urging residents to “celebrate Dolly the way she lived.” Texas’ Montgomery and Hayes counties passed similar resolutions.
